Adenmyosis

I have just discovered your website and address while looking for information on adenmyosis. In the summer of 2001 I was diagnosed as having adnemyosis using transvaginal ultrasound in combination with my menstruation symptoms. I am 46 and was diagnosed with endometriosis 16 years ago when I was treated with danazol. Since the age of 38 following the birth of the second of my two children at age 37, I have had endless problems with periods and hormones. My hormone levels were measured and along with my menopausal sympotoms I was diagnosed as peri-menpausal and given a variety of HRT. Pills had major side effects and a combination of patch and pills settled things down for a short while. Unfortunately due to a mistake by a pharmacist I was given 100gm progesterone tablets instead of the prescribed 5mg ones and took this 'over-dose' for three months plus. The mistake was discovered while investigating why I felt so ill and I was immediately taken off both the oestrogen patch and the progesterone tablets. There followed year of scanty or no period, lots of pelvic pain and endless thrush and urine infections. My bladder was examined and the membrane aorund it discovered to be very inflamed. Biopsies didn't reveal anything further. After some time and more infections and anti biotics things calmed down but out of the blue periods began again...extremely painful, gradual build up of small amounts of bleed leading up to large dark clots ..no flow as such at all and each expelled clot was proceded by a painful contraction and pumping feeling. I also felt very tired and ill. When my coil was checked and the the threads were 'missing' I had the transvaginal scan which found the coil in place but the threads had moved upwards....and the consultant scanning me then discovered the very thickened uterus, a very painful spot on the womb wall near the cervix ( when touched by the scanner was extremely painful) and the adnemyosis was diagnosed. Hysterectomy was recommended and I am due to have this done on April 29 2002. However all the above symptoms are no longer present as I haven't had a period or any sign of bleeding at all since November 2001. I would very much like some answers as to what is happening. Is adenmyosis still a likely diagnosis? Dose it matter that I haven't had a bleed for four months? Are there any 'sinister overtones' to concern me? Should I go ahead with the hysterectomy? In the last three weeks I have also started to have horrendous sweats ('hot flushes'??), feel nauseus and faint and very tired plus keep having painful migriane type headaches. Am exhausted with constant burning up and sweats. Would very much value an expert's opinion on all this. Please e-mail if you possibly can ..I really don't know exactly to whom I am e-mailing..but am so in need of some help, have decided to e-mail and see what happens! With very many thanks.
