Megace to treat thick uterine lining

I hope I'm posting to the appropriate forum - I have some questions concerning Megace and lining thickness. Is Megace (1 40mg pill per day) an appropriate/effective treatment for reducing the thickness of the uterine lining? I am seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist for infertility treatment. I have been attempting IVF, but have not been successful. The only real "issue" noted so far is a thick uterine lining. My doctor at first said, "There's no such thing as too thick". However, I have read other doctors' opinions saying that over 12-14mm can reduce chances of implantation. My lining is consistently at 17mm on Day 14. Besides the thick lining, I have a history of small polyps in my uterus that turn out (during hysteroscopy) to be just excess lining that had not been shed. Since my doctor seemed a little slow in deciding a course of action before settling on trying Megace for 30 days, I wanted to get some more advice. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.
