Your opinion pleaseFrom: Brandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Feb 26 15:45:40 2002
Hi ladies,I have a question, what would you do if your doctor lied to you?Well here is my story, last year I was having pelvic pain and told my doctor about it and she had me go for two uneeded ultrasounds to view my ovaries (uneeded because the pain was not in my ovaries)and my ovaries were fine .Then I kept telling her that I was still having the pain so after bugging her to have a laparocopy performed to see what the pain was from she finally agreed and before the surgery I asked her if she found any endometriosis would she try to take it out and she said yes.So I had the surgery and after it was over she went to the waiting room to tell my husband how it went and she told him I did have endo but it was very mild and nothing to worry about and if I wanted to take the lupron shots I could, she acted like it was no big deal.So my husband told me what she said and I was concernd but she said it was nothing to worry about. My surgery was back in August and I have not had any treatment for my endo. When I went for my check up after the surgery she acted like it was no big deal and brushed me off.I have been in pain alot with very bad low back pain,I have irregular bleeding at times.I got curious so I got a copy of my op report and was I shocked and hurt!Come to find out my endo is alot worse than she told me,the op report says that I have extensive endometriosis in the cul-de-sac area and the implants of endo are large! That sounds alot worse than mild doesn't it.I was so upset when I read the report that I started cring, she flat out lied to me.My husband said I should sue her for malpractice, but I said it is our word against hers. What would you ladies do in my position? And of course I am finding another doctor,I want to try to have another baby sometime but now I am afraid I wont be able to because the endo is worse than I thought. In the report she also noted that I had fluid in the area of the endo that she didn't tell me about, and she didn't try to surgically remove the endo either like we spoke about.I am all upset, any opinions are appreciated,Brandy
