Hi

My name is Chelsey. I'm 21 and have had endo since I was about 14. The doctors always threw me around from doctor to doctor saying that I was just having bad periods. Last December I finally got to see a OBGYN that seems to know what she's talking about. She, herself, has endo and has been through all of this so I was comfortable with her when she recommended a laproscopy done. Scared to death of course I went ahead and had the surgery done 1 week later. I had endo around my bowels and my ovaries. She burned all of it off, sorry if this is gross, and sucked out the tissue and blood that had pooled by my bowels then burned the cells off there. I never really had diarrhea, but I also knew what foods to eat and not to eat, because when I did it was very painful. I usually only had a bowel movement 1 time a week. Which is very abnormal. It was very painful, sex was very painful and my cramps kept me off my feet for 2-3 days because they were so painful. 3 weeks after surgery I felt better than I have ever felt in my life. It was like I had my life back. The doctor wanted to put me on BC or Lupron. Well I chose the BC because the thought of going through pre-menopausal symptoms didn't appeal to me or my husband. Plus it was a very expensive option for me which my insurance doesn't cover. I went through 4 different kinds of BC and all of them gave me bad side effects. So in June I stopped taking them to see if anything had changed. BIG MISTAKE. We were in St Louis for the 4th of July and it ruined the whole weekend. I had night sweats couldn't sleep painful stabbing cramps. I actually filled the bath tub up at 4:00 in the morning and sat in straight cold water until the water warmed up to my body temperature. I couldn't evern tell the water was cold when i sat in it. I was absolutely miserable. So after about 4 tylenol and 3 midol and a light mixed drink I fell asleep and woke up in a pool of blood. Worst period I had ever had in my life. So then I decided to go back on the BC. I figured it atleast was helping me not go through that expereince again. I still have bad cramps 1 of the days of my period and I bleed 3-4 days every other week. But atleast I'm not off my feet for those days anymore. I was considering Lupron, but after all the bad experiences on the news letter it will NEVER be an option for me. I have to go back and see my gyno in a couple months to explore any other options. I realize that everyone has different reactions to this "disease" and not everyone has the same effects of the "pain relievers" that are recommended. I wish that I could have a child now and then have everything removed, but I'm way too young to consider that. So, I wait in pain, impatience, and annoyance waiting for something to work. Hope you have better luck than I have seen so far. There are many successful stories out there, hope one day I can add my name to the list. I just can't believe there are no "for sure cures" out there yet. Maybe America doesn't believe it's not that serious, but to us, the suffereing, it's a life altering disease that never goes away.

Wishing you luck and patience
