Re: had a thought, wondering if anyone thinks its worth a try...From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Feb 5 11:18:39 2002
<<what if we were to spread the word on as many boards and chatrooms as possable, i mean really spread the word to get as many people as possable to write in to a show like oprah or something like that about endo and how so many women suffer everyday for it.>> Oprah had the opportunity to raise awareness on Endo 3 yrs. ago when Endo was included on a show she was doing on women's health issues. She blew it. Instead of discussing how significant the disease is, she had Dr. Northrup come on and tell the world Endo was "blocked pelvic energy." She has never responded to tons of requests to do a show solely on the disease and all that it encompasses. Apparently, because Endo does not affect her or anyone in her life, it's not "worthy" of being brought up on her program. <<may help up the awareness and we all know that we need to do that somehow. we were thinking we could try to come up with a deadline date, and have as many people write as possable. ya know, power in numbers kinda thing...>> There is a large group on another forum I read which does this once a week. Each week a new target is selected and then everyone mails the target with requests for Endo articles and coverage. You should check into it and join, they've been doing it for...forever, it seems. Endofighter@aol.com is the address for the lady who heads up the awareness campaign, you can talk to her about getting involved. They are backed up by the Endometriosis Research Center and post weekly about it on the ERC's Listserv at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc/ Hope that helps.
