Re: What a Christmas Present!!From: Lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 28 03:30:07 2001
Hi Anette, I don't really have any suggestions, but I can relate entirely to how you feel. Nine D&C's and 7 Laparoscopies and many hormone treatments over the last 7 years have driven me to distraction. I also have irritable bowel disease and fibromyalgia, so the combination of all three was driving me mad, I was on schedule 7 painkillers about five days a month, anti-inflamatories for the FM, tablets for IBD, anti depressants, and tablets for panic attacks. I felt like a walking pharmacy, was always in pain and in a bad mood. I was becoming a bad mother and wife. My doctor finally persuaded me that a hysterectomy was the only thing to alleviate the acute pain. ( He was very careful to tell me that not all the pain would be releived, and that because I was keeping an ovary, the endo has a chance of recuring in a couple of years, but no more period pain, and probabally a reduction in all month pain too.) I already have three kids, but would love another ( we are going to adopt.) I was persuaded that it was an option, and here I am three weeks post hyst, I have not taken a pain killer, an anti depressant, or an anti inflamatory since day six post op. I am not saying a hyst is for everybody, it is not, I kicked against it for four years, but it is an option to be concidered. If you ever need to talk or vent or anything, I am on the board almost daily, and you can e-mail me privatly on laurenr@lantic.net. (((((HUGS))))) LAUREN
