Laura,

Who was the specialist that you saw at 18? Was it a regular gyn or some other specialist?

A uterine septum (just using this as an example) as well as what they call a bicarbonate uterus can sometimes be a problem for a woman trying to get pregnant. I think that the same might apply with two cervices which is probably why the dr wanted you to see an RE even though you don't have fertility issues.

What I might suggest is talk to a regular ob/gyn and tell them what happened and get their input b/c that visit to the RE may not have been necessary at all. Sometimes having a few opinions can make all the difference.

Sorry that I can't be of more help but I would like to suggest that you post this question to the Women's Health Forum as well. The link to that forum is: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health b/c we have drs that are over there that can help answer questions like this. The dr on call for us over there is a perinatologist so he may be able to help steer you in the right direction as to how to handle this.

Please feel free to e-mail me directly if you ever want to talk privately. And most of all welcome to the list.
