Sam, I'm sorry that you had to go thru that with your grandma. I don't discuss my health with my family other than my mother. I also try not to talk to friends about it unless they start forcing me to defend myself (these are ones who don't have health problems). And for as supportive as my mom tries to be she thinks that I talk about my illnesses all the time and that's not true. I've only done that like a few times and that was several months ago but in the last 3 or 4 months I haven't talked about my illnesses and just say that I'm hanging in there but I also have to have friends that share health problems with me that I can talk to about this as well b/c the other friends don't understand. What I'm learning is that it's best not to explain it to those that can't understand it after you have tried. You are just wasting words really. And if they want to start an argument about this just say excuse me and leave. And if it ever comes up again tell them that you don't want to talk about it b/c it makes you uncomfortable.
