thoracic endometriosisFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Oct 21 16:24:59 2001
My daughter has been diagnosed with thoracic endometriosis approximately a year after having a pneumomediastinum in 1998. She was put on continuous birth control to stop her menses. This has helped alot compared to the amount of pain and length of days. She does not miss as much work or school due to the chest pain. She still has pain whenever there is breakthrough bleeding and two weeks after. An inhaler was prescribed by her pulmonary doctor but this seemed to aggravate it more than help. Are there any studies about the long term use of birth control? Some of the options scare us more lupron, depro- vera, surgergy with no guarantee that it will help. Also, she has taken motrin but has to taken alot to relieve the pain, vioxx was prescribed which really helped but now there is controversy over that causing heart problems. It doesn't seem like there are many options? Any feedback? Thanks
