Ann, Hello. Okay jumping right in lol. First of all usually you can tell when a certain treatment is working when your symptoms decrease or disappear. As for the laps, there are some women who go through up to 4 laps a year, it usually depends on the dr that you are going to and their experience with endo. As for the staging of the endo, this is based upon how many "lesions" are found and the different colors of the endo (red, clear, black, etc). The current staging of endometriosis was developed for fertility reasons. The staging of endo does not indicate what pain or symptoms that the woman is having, only the chances of her getting pregnant. For example, a woman with Stage I endo has more of a chance getting pregnant than say a women with Stage III endo. Menopause does not always help with endometriosis. You can just ask the many women who have had hysterectomies or those of us who are going through "chemical" menopause, meaning taking different treatments to induce a menopausal state. Don't get me wrong, for some women after menopause or hysterectomy they get complete relief of symptoms, but not all women. As for the time when you will go through menopause, there is really no way to actually know. Chances are you will go through menopause at about the same age as your mom and grandmother, but thats not always the case. My grandma went through menopause in her late 30's/ early 40's and so did her mom, but my mom is in her late 50's and still has not gone through the change. You can contact the Endometriosis Resource Center @ http://www.endocenter.org and they can help you with finding a dr in your area. Also I believe that the endo assoc also does this, but I'm not sure of their addy. Also the endocenter website has a link to join an online support group that is full of very wonderful women if you would be interested in that. There are over 1,000 members and there is a lot of information around. Also, when the ERC has new info about endo or it's treatments they usually pass this info on to the members :). If you need anything else, feel free to write me at any time. Take care hon. Love and Prayers, Amanda endogirl78@yahoo.com
