Re: I'm new to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!From: Lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Oct 17 09:08:54 2001
Hi Mandi, Welcome to the forum, we are all suffering from endo, so we can really relate to you. We all really try to be there for each other, and to give helpful advise. You do not say what you are using or have used for pain. Have you tried an anti-inflamatory, (brufen etc ) Slow reaease twice a day with asprin or paracetamol as needed, that alone works for some people. I have also had great success with ULTRAM, but I became allergic to it, it sure took the pain away. Or I find that voltaren injections, combined with codeine/asprin tablets work for me. My doctor gives me a shot in the morning before work, and then I take the tablets if I need them (sometimes I don't) and then I get another shot at about 5pm. BUT, you can use none of these methods for more than a few days as they can have REALLY bad effects on your liver, kidneys and digestive system in general. If none of these OTC methods work, it is time to see a doctor for referal to a pain clinic, where you can be prescribed a narcotic drug.AND most imoprtant be monitored while you are taking it. Drugs are not to be treated lightly at all. I also use heat, a hot bath and a heating pad, as well as going to physical therapy for six days before my period. I also watch my diet and avoid foods that make the pain worse. Hope this is helpful. ((((ANGEL HUGS))))) LAUREN
