Re: Depo-Provera and endometriosisFrom: Lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Oct 2 03:10:12 2001
Dear Tess, Loads of doctors iin South Africa where I live prescribe Depro for endo, it is also used at all our State run clinics as the birth control method of choice. So there are many women in SA who take it for a life time.(not that it is healthy, they just have no other choice.) My doctor prescribed it for me about 13 years ago, but all it did was made me bleed for three months. My mom's gyn claims that there is a link between deprovera use and the high incedense of hysts in SA. (It is hard to find a woman over 45 at a private medical fund that still has a uterus LOL.) I will do some research for you, and ask around, for my part I can not see how suppressing a natural cycle for too long can be healthy for you, but that is just my own personal opinion. There is a book that I recomend you read HYSTERECTOMY, BEFORE AND AFTER by WINNIFRED B. CUTLER. available through Amazon.com. I found it really helpful. Hope this helps. (((ANGEL HUGS))) LAUREN
