Re: endometriosis - depot lupron as 6-mo. trtmtFrom: Denise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Sep 24 12:13:31 2001
I have been on lupron depot for 5 months. After the first month, I had 3 1/2 pain free wonderful months. The night sweats and occasional dryness were a small price to pay for painless days and a more intemate relationship with my husband because I was pain free. Then a randome life insurance blood test showed that the lupron was affecting my liver and putting me into liver failure. That same week, I once again started having pain, they say because the liver was taking so much of the lupron that it was no longer doing it's job. After 17 years of battling this disease, I deserve to feel better. I am on a waiting list for a hystomectomy. My problem with the lupron happens in only 1.5 % of women who take it. Although you may have some side effects, just ask yourself if it is worth it. For me, I would take it again and again if I could. I slept with a fan next to me. My husband slept with 2 extra blankets, but I did not have to keel over in pain. Good luck.
