Re: Should I take Lupron?From: anonymous@obgyn.netTue Jul 31 18:00:48 2001
Anna, I am not a specialist. I myself had the Depo-Lupron shot. These shots are suppose cut down your body's estrogen production. I was told endo thrives with estrogen. I took two 3 month shots one after the other. I had some spotting my third week. I didn't have huge mood swings but I hear its common. The shots induce a false menopause; hot flashes, mood swings, depression etc. I drove my boyfriend completely nuts. If it is intolerable call your doctor!!! Mine told me too if it was too much for me to handle. It happens. The worste is over after the first month. It was kind of nice not having my period for a while and the pain stopping. But it came back six months after I was off the shots and I needed another laparoscopy. It's been a year since that time and I'm starting to get the pains again. The good doctors in Las Vegas are scarce and hard to get appointments with. However, there was always an open door when it came to questions and concerns. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Remember, endo is still a mystery so one doctor isn't going to know it all and they will never know to ask someone else unless we ask first. And if your doctor tries to pressure you into getting pregnant sooner that you want just to alleviate the pain... Don't do it. It's an uncertain fix. They just know that pregnancy helps the pain. But after birth there are NO certainties. I was told that you could start getting the pain right after you give birth, a week later, a year later, ten years later or even never. Every individual is different and the doctors have no clue at this time. I hope this helped, God Bless, Tina
