Dear Lauren,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling so well.
It sounds like you're really working on your diet. Re the cheese every
other day -- I, personally, can't have cheese or else I get a flare. How
I wish I could eat whatever I want w/o having a flare -- even something
as simple as having cream/milk w/coffee. If only I could figure out
precisely what is responsible for the tailbone pain, etc. -- then
perhaps I could have it treated. Re the IC -- I'm truly ignorant on the
subject as it is new to me. Basically, IC involves inflammation of the
bladder which includes frequent urination as well as urgency w/o
detection of bacteria involvement. I experienced great pain in the
lowback as well as nausea, frequent and urgent urination. I truly don't
know if IC is my sole problem -- as I've also felt pain in the middle
back as well, maybe the kidneys? Plus, I haven't been tested by a
urologist. I think I probably have endo involvement of the bladder, and
perhaps the ureters/kidneys -- I honestly don't have a clue but I really
do believe that endo is, in some way, a contributing factor -- of course
LOL, I don't "know" as a scientific fact that endo is involved, but I
think it is. Wish I did have a clue cause then I would have some idea
as to possibilities on what I would need to do to "treat" it. But I
have noticed an improvement in the pain, etc. since, for the most part,
avoiding the IC "trigger foods and beverages", etc. -- plus the use of
"Prelief" seems to be helping as well. Prelief is a product which
neutralizes acidic food/beverages, so that one may live as a "normal"
person lol. I will give you a website which I've looked to for guidance
--
http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ ----
So now, in addition to eliminating foods/beverages for endo, I do the
same for IC -- UGH. I do have one "cheat" on my diet(s) -- on "good
days", I have 1/2 cup of coffee diluted with 1/2 cup of hot water with
"Prelief" added. I tried having a "real cheat" LOL by adding non-dairy
creamer to the coffee but it gave me the tailbone flare:-( . Also, I've
eliminated sugar substitutes as they appear to aggravate IC.
Take Care,
Yen

>Is IC similar to IBS, sorry for being so ignorant !!!!
>I too have cut out ALL caffiene Yen, and feel much better for it, unfortunatley I also find that starch helps keep me balanced - much less nausea, and I do not feel faint and disorientated during the day if I eat at least 3 serving of starch a day ie:2x slices bread, I cup cooked pasta/rice or a medium potato.
>It is too cold to eat salad at the moment, but veg soup is healthy and warming,or legume soup(although I also have to avoid certain beans, but peas and lentils seem to be fine.) Soya is a definite problem for me, which is sad as I do not enjoy red meat much.Dairy I also keep to a bare minimum, I do not use milk, and only have two slices of cheese every second day.

>P.S. Forgot to add that my doc (GP) was furious with my gyn after last lap. My doc had a look (Lap) and decided the endo was too advanced to help me, and refered me to a gyn who did a lap, and said - NO ENDO !!
>My doc said that after repeted surgeries to remove endo (esp with diathermy-the way it is still done in SA ) - tough scar tissue forms, and often the endo grows between the organs and the scar tissue, he asked the gyn if he had looked there and the gyn said NO !!
