>Dear Ann, I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries at age 31. I am now age 36. It is my feeling that even after a total hysterectomy, the endo can still return, or flair back up. I had Lupron before the Hysterectomy, and it is almost too emotional and drawn out for me to talk to you about...I do not recommend the use of Lupron to anyone, under any circumstance!!!!!!!!!!!! There is something else to consider...You CAN have a lap with laser with a good surgeon, and absolutely refuse Lupron or other meds to treat post-op. You can tell the Dr. this ahead of time. Please consider that you should avoid Lupron at all costs!!! My last surgeon also told me that the treatment for endometriosis is really basically surgical anyway (meaning laser and NOT Lupron). I could go on and on about Lupron. You should consider visiting The National Lupron Victims website. I do not have the address in front of me, but don't confuse it with other similiarly named sites. This is hosted by THE National Lupron Victims Network with Dr. Linda Abend. try: http://www.lupronvictims.org, I think that might be it. As for whether or not to have the hysterectomy, I sometimes feel that I should have been willing to have a laser lap and leave it in God's hands from there. I feel that I should have been willing to continue to suffer, and trust more. I had no children and was only 31 years old. I wonder about that, and that if I had not been scared of getting pregnant soon after a laser lap, in the poor health I was in (CFIDS and fibromyalgia and other health complications) if I would have chosen to avoid the hysterectomy instead. I think what I did was wrong. I knew someone who told me that she could never make the decision to have the hysterectomy even though her physicians told her she needed one. She was a good bit older than I, but had never had a child. She ended up in the E/R one night with a
ING to do an emergency hysterectomy to save her, but she did very well...and is okay now. It is certainly a decision YOU have to pray about!!! I think it is best given over in prayer and trust in God's answer. Please, please remember what I have said...you have the right to a good laser lap Without pre- or post Lupron!!! Also avoid Synarel, a similar drug. Take Care...and May God Bless You!!!
