Carolyn, one is really supposed to take a week off and do nothing labour intensive at all, even sitting for long periods like you said at a desk can be hard on the surgical sites. During a lap your abdominal cavity gets a good digging around done in it, and excessive movement afterwards makes it difficult for the appropriate healing to occur. I had a lap with ovary/cyst/adhesion removal and took plain tylenol regularly alternating with an anti-inflammatory (naprosyn) for two weeks post-op, and had no pain at all, just a thought.
