Hi Beth, Lauren here, yes, I think many of us have been misdiagnosed, it is quit common with endo. A hyst is not a cure for endo, it will probabaly lessen your symptoms, but it is no cure. A Laparoscopy is where they use 'belly button surgery' to clean out the endo with a laser or diathermy, I have had 6 in the last 7 years, and obtained a certain amount of relief from all of them except the last one. My suggestion is that you get onto the net and punch in ENDOMETRIOSIS, and read as much as you can about this disease. This will empower you to take charge of your treatment. I have decided lifestyle changes are my best bet at the moment. Vitamins, diet etc. BUT you have got to do what works for you. Also, e-mail BELLE at support@endometriosis.org and ask her how to obtain the endo video, it changed my life. Hope this helps ((((HUGS))) LAUREN
