Another View on Hysterectomies

I have been reading all of the recent posts about hysts and thought I would put my two cents in for whatever they are worth. I am 24 years old and have been suffering with endo for 16 years. That is more that half my life, and I deal with pain on a daily basis. I was 8 years old when my problems began, and it changed my life. My entire childhood was lost and I had to grow up really fast. My only dream is to have a child of my own. I see so many women out there with their little ones and I find myself in tears because I am so happy for them and that most of them don't realize how blessed they were to have their angels. My doctor talked about a hyst at 16. My family, me and my doctor decided it was not the right time for me. I have put off a hyst for so long, that now I feel that if I can live with endo, why get rid of what I have that in part makes me a woman? My mother had a hyst at 27 and has problems since then with the HRT and a myriad of other problems. I am not in any way saying that a hyst is not the answer. We all know that we are different and what works for one of us will not work for someone else. But, I am so determined to have a child that I will stop at nothing to get it. This disease has taken so much from me, but I refuse to let it keep me from being a mother. If I was older and had my children and there was no reason for me to keep my uterus, then my opinion might be different. But the endo has moved to my other organs anyway, so I don't believe a hysterectomy would help. I know this is a long post and most of it is personal info, but I feel that many women have their own personal beliefs for why they are for or against hysterectomies and I felt it was important for yall to see why I am so against having a hysterectomy. I value everyones opinion and when I am thiry and have had my child I can grant you I will return to this forum and ask for advice on having a hyst. But right now, being that I am so young and childless, and also knowing that hysterectomy will not cure the endo, I see absolutely no benefit for having a hysterectomy. Again, this is my personal opinion and is in no way trying to convince anyone not to have a hysterectomy. I just felt that someone should see a different, more personal view on hsyterectomies. I hope that everyone does intense research before they make a drastic decision such as this, and to consider everything from the pros and cons and also from their personal side. We are all at different stages in our lives, and some of us are ready for a hsyterectomy and some of us aren't. Pain free wishes and God Bless! Kelli
