Re: I need some advice & supportFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu May 31 18:17:34 2001
Theresa, I am so sorry to hear of your news. All of us hear understand what you are going thru. I too have been told the very same thing. I am not married though. For a while I was thinking of getting artificially insiminated. But I did alot of research and so can you. I am not a doc by any means but here are some suggestions. First I was put on a med called MICRONOR. Its a bcp and what it does is keep me from having a period all together, which keeps the endo from growing. I am also on pain meds which help from time to time. Also try doing different positions because I know that helped me. All women are different and react diff. to the meds but I hope this helps. Please don't rush into anything until you have researched all of your options. Look on the internet, go to the library, just keep looking. Yes endometriosis causes infertility but by using some of the meds available, that might help your pain and keep you from choosing a hysterectomy. I also understand how you feel about wanting to finish things (school) before kids. You might very well have that option sweetie. I am 23 and have had endo for about 6 to 7 years. I only have one ovary and have pain everyday. BUT, I still believe that someday I will have children. Most people I know say "have a hyst." or "get pregnant" even when they don't realize sometimes those options don't even work on some women. Take your time to find your decision. Both are big steps. Don't let anyone talk you into anything! But I do stress that if you don't have endo so severe to the point that you are bedridden, then a hyst. is not for you. Please read all you can and like I said take your time. Also include your hubby in all things that go on because you are in this together. If you need a friend you can email privately whenever you want. I will always be here. Good luck to you and pain free wishes.
