Sorry that it took me so long to reply, but I had to go and look this one up for you, and I have not been feeling so great. The stages of pre-cancerous cells are : CIN 1- very mild cell changes, re-test every 3 months. CIN 2 -Moderate changes to cells immediate treatment required. CIN 3 - Severe dysplasia of cells - immediate agressive treatment is indicated. CARCINOMA IN SITU- severe dysplasia, can mean follow up treatments. These cells are NOT cancer yet, but can develop into cancer, it should be treated promptly, and followed up aggresivley, BUT if she had a hysterectomy, that should have sorted out the problem. Hope this puts your mind at rest. LAUREN
