I too, had an endometrioma on one of my ovaries. They found it on a CT scan and then a sonogram. However they did not know it was an endometrial cyst until the Dr. did surgery. It was my symptoms that brought me to the doctor. I have always had very painful periods but some new syptoms were...........weight gain (noticed myself puffing up around the middle) bloating (felt like I was 4 months pregnant) hurt to sit down, it felt like there was a lot of pressure there. I was nauseous but not all the time.....just every so often. When I had surgery, They saw that it was an endometrioma or a choclate cyst. They call it this because the blood which accumulates in this cyst, becomes thick and dark colored over time.....resembling chocolate (yuck) I had just the cyst removed and the ovary was left because this is what I wanted..I did not want both ovaries removed and be thrown into surgical menopause.....but now I am wondering if that wouldnt have been such a bad idea....I am sick of these cramps and how long each menstrual period lasts......oh well. Too late now. When is your surgery? I truly hope all goes well for you. I just had surgery 6 weeks ago and I felt and still feel so much better ! Good luck to you. Anna
