Re: Endrometrial Biopsy painful ((( Yvonne)))From: B. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Apr 29 21:12:29 2001
Dear Yvonne, I feel so much for you and what you have just been through, you poor dear. That is so traumatic and you are right he should have at least numbed the area with a local anaesthetic . I think your doctor was cruel . I demanded sedation for my MRI and they were great about it. I can not understand why a doctor would be so uncaring and cruel. If the bleeding stays bright read and continues to get heavier and doesn't let up, you might like to go to the ER and if he has done something wrong, it will be documented, especially if something did happen and there was a court case, you would have followed the correct course of action and that is to go to the ER.They also may give you something for the pain, that he has created. You are correct about an ultra sound , especially a vaginal ultra sound, should be the first tests, that most endo sufferers have. I have never had a biopsy. Most of us have had a laparoscopy if endo is suspected and this is the only true way to diagnose endo. If he was looking for endometrial cancer he would do a biopsy but you would have, had to have had... a pap smear that showed something that wasn't normal . This would be the only reason I would let a doctor do that kind of test on me. If he doesn't have a good reason, for why he did it to you, I would then look into getting a lawyer and discussing it with him and see if you have a case. Especially if it has traumatized you , I feel for you. I have had traumatic tests before and if someone is responsible for this traumatic event in our life, especially if it leaves us with post traumatic stress and sometimes we need counselling, just to get over these stresses and situtaions and traumas..the doctors or persons who are responsible, should be told so and held accountable. I am a nurse and I was trained to look after my patients not cause them more trauma and certainly not cause them post traumatic stress syndrome. I feel for you so much Yvonne, vent away hon, we are all listening to you and its good for you to get it out, it may also be a good idea for you to talk to someone about it, especially if you do go to the ER, ask to speak to a counsellor. Good luck and know we are all here for you. Hugz & Many Pain Free Wishes to you, Belle
>----- Original Message ----- There should be something to put you to sleep for this procedure! Why was it so painful does anyone know? I'm 49 years old and had an Endrometrial biopsy yesterday and it was the most painful experience, worse than having labor pains when I gave birth to my son! Why? My period decided to subside the day I went to the doctor. After the biopsy now I need a lite pad and it's so bright, bright red? I feel the throbbing like a contraction of sorts feeling, I still feel like I'm on that table, it was tramatic to me, I can't stop crying about it. Why didn't the doctor send me for a sonogram first when I asked what my options were? I read the sonogram was more conclusive. ..
