New to Board, need some help please!! (Long, but please read anyway;-)From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Apr 4 00:10:39 2001
Wow, can't believe what a supportive board this is! Okay, I'll try to make this as short as I can. I have been dealing with pain that has been getting progressively worse over the past 6-9 months. My pain is mostly abdominal but I also have constant lower back pain and intermittant rectal pain. The rectal pain gets so bad that I have to curl up in a ball and just breathe through it, usually it last just a couple of minutes but can last up to 5 or 10. It starts like an ache that gets worse kind of like a labor pain and then subsides. I often have just painful "twinges" of rectal pain, also. It feels like I need to have a bm or have gas sometimes and sometimes having a bm causes the rectal pain. A rectal exam by a NP revealed nothing out of the ordinary. My abdominal pain is mostly just constant aching tenderness but I often have sharp pains and some general aching that feels like cramps or labor pains. I feel like my abdomen is a little bloated and has gotten worse over the past few months. It hurts to wear my pants that have a button right above my belly button. It is also sometimes painful when I empty my bladder. The lower back pain is constant and I have had this since the birth of my second child 14 months ago. It centers in the lower part of my spine where my epidural was placed which I have always thought contributed to the problem, even though I wouldn't give birth without one, Lord knows! ;-) Some other background: I have periods that last at least 7 days, sometimes 8-9. During my periods I constantly ache in my lower abdomen and have very painful aching in my groin and upper legs. My periods are VERY heavy and I often go through several super tampons with pads to catch leaking every day. Also, this month (just yesterday) I experienced spotting throughout the day and it is one week before I am due to start my period. Last fall I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts, and was told that one may have ruptured. This happened after a trip to the ER after a night of awful rectal pain. I still think this diagnosis was NOT the cause of the rectal pain. I have since had an abdominal ultra sound which came back normal. I have been referred to a gastroenterologist but couldn't get an appt. for 3 more weeks. Gotta love those HMOs! So.........I guess I just need some feedback on if you guys think I could have endo and if so should I go ahead with the appt. with the GI or do I try to find a good Gyn? I feel so lost and am so afraid that I am going to get a cancer diagnosis. I just want to find out what is wrong so I can be sure that I can be the mom I want to be to my two little ones! Thank you, if you made it this far in this message you are ALREADY an angel to me!! Zona
