Re: A period question!From: Marcia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Mar 29 08:06:06 2001
Hi Vicky: You're welcome--glad we have been able to help. RE: the tampon issue...I've never had pain using them, but since you do...DON'T USE 'EM!! Besides which, one of the theories of how endo gets implanted is by tampon usage. The theory is that when the tampon is in place, retrograde (occurring or performed in a direction opposite to the to the usual direction of flow) menstration happens...which means the menstrual blood backflows up the tubes and then splatters against the walls and organs in your abdomen. I believe this is could be true, and when I heard of this, had stopped using tampons myself...just the thought of maybe doing this to myself was enough for me to give it up. Also, you could ask your doc, see if he knows. Pain-free wishes to you,
-- Marcia
