endo and fertility

I am new to this. May i ask, is endo pain always indicative of permanent damage going on? I panic every time i have a cramp. I am clean now afer surgery and have been told fertility should be ok (and it has been so far) but i always am afraid my time for having children is running out. Does anyone know an estimation on how long is advisable between pregnancies, i have heard 2 years is usually how long it takes for it to reach damage status.
