Hi everyone,

I just joined the list after about a month of reading it online and I wanted to introduce myself to you. My name is D.Z. (Debra) and I was diagnosed with endo in the middle of February. I had no idea that I even had it until one of my periods produced the earth shattering pain that you all are familiar with. I'm 35 yrs. old, married, no children (we were about to start trying). I've been dealing with chronic back pain due a herniated lumbar disc for two years so any unusual pain I usually attributed to that. But, this time I landed in the ER. I'm also an ER Nurse for the time being. Ultrasound showed a solid mass approx. 7 cm in diameter lateral to the right ovary. So, we scheduled surgery for 10- days later.

I had an open lap and my o.b. removed two chocolate cysts with the 7 cm one being the smaller. They had my ovaries wrapped around the back of my uterus and there were spots on my bladder, abdominal wall, appendix, which was removed. Part of my right ovary was taken also. Yesterday, I started on Lupron. I'm terrified of it, but I need to know if the endo is the cause of the tremendous back pain. My surgery was on Feb. 28th and I'm only now able to sit up in a chair due to the back pain.

Anyone who has had experience with lower back pain and endo please let me know. I'm now faced with the decision of what to do about my career. It's stressful, it's 12 hours shifts, and if my back pain doesn't clear up I need to make some decisions. I'm not working and on an unpaid medical leave. I feel like the stressful environment is really aggravating my conditions.

Glad to be on the list, D.Z. dzlamm@neo.rr.com
