Hi Kathy:

I have never had the cystoscopy, so can't say about that. I have had two laparoscopies, but never were they called "open." I'm not sure what your doc means. Is he going through your belly button? A laparotomy is when they make a bigger incision in the wall of your stomach, so that is open. If it is, indeed a regular lap, your recovery time would be about a week or so...perhaps they are keeping you in the hospital overnight because you are having two procedures.

I hope they find the cause of your pain...part of it does sound like endo..the pain you have with intercourse, the pain in both ovaries radiating down your legs...and it is possible to have endo on the bladder as well, causing problems...I had a test for interstitial cystitis, because they said it mimicks endo on the bladder...but it was negative for me....I'm sorry you had so much trouble the first time of surgery with your cyst....but glad you've been event-free and blessed with a child in between.

When my endo first started causing me pain, I too, would have just intermitten pain in the ovary area, but would pass, but then it returned for about 7 weeks straight until I was diagnosed by lap 5 years ago...so mine was nonstop too...so I know how you feel.

I wish you the best of luck on your surgery tomorrow, and hope they find resolution for you...And hope for pain-free wishes soon for you.
