Re: Pain Killer AddictionsFrom: Marcia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Mar 8 09:11:36 2001
Hi again: You're very welcome. My gynecologist suggested it, but told me to follow-up with my internist with how best to take it. It takes up to a month to start to work, but it has eased my pain by almost 50%, much to my surprise. Effexor is an SSRI, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and somehow it changes how you perceive pain in your brain...I'm not quite sure which, but it kind of raises your pain threshold and short-circuits how you respond to pain. I also have pain down one of my legs and from what I understand, it can be from ovary pain, or endo or lesions in or around your uterosacral ligament in your abdomen...it is something to ask you doc about. Perhaps try to deep breathing as something extra? It does help me some, as well. Glad to be of help. Pain-free wishes to you.
-- Marcia
