two days after surgery - should i be feeling better than this? From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Mar 3 01:11:05 2001
I'm new to this list as I just found out on Wednesday that I have endo, after my laparoscopy. Apologies in advance if there are a lot of answers in the archives, but it's been tough to sit up and type and stay awake so far! I've done a fair bit of reading here, and I'm impressed at the support and advice the women here are given. Here's my query, and I hope someone has some tips. I have three incisions in my abdomen which all hurt like hell. I had adhesions removed near my bowel and around my right ovary, which also had a cyst on it. This is the site where I'd been feeling the most pain (for 4 months). The bloated feeling has gone and I can now urinate normally, although it's difficult to empty my bladder completely. Bowels are also fine. I'm taking Tylenol during the day and Vicodin to get to sleep, as I'd been doing before my surgery. Tonight the 'regular' pain in my right side and down my right leg has returned with a vengeance. It almost feels as if nothing has changed. Is this a hangover of pain from the laparoscopy? Should I still be experiencing this much pain? How soon can I start further treatment for the endo? (My gynecologist wants to see me next week and we're going to talk about the options then.) It's frankly a relief to know what's wrong with me after so long. I'm just impatient to get myself better again, at least as far as that's possible. I'll read as many posts as I can to see what each kind of therapy has to offer, but I just wanted to know how I'm supposed to feel this soon after surgery, never having had an operation before. Help, please! vicky
