Advice please???From: karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Feb 20 06:54:05 2001
Hello all, I have only posted to this forum a few times, but I read faithfully daily. I went to my new gyn yesterday and he said they couldn't find my left ovary on US. That was the case last year when it was adhered to the bowel because of endo and also endo in the cul de sac. He feels another lap is in order, with a possible oopherectomy, and possible laporatomy. He also said that if it's really bad, he would recommend a hysterectomy, but not to be done at that time, as there are things to consider with a hysterectomy. The more I think about it, if you are going to do a laporotomy to get the ovary out, and you see that everything else needs to come out too...do it then. So I have put a call into him to possibly change my permit for OR. Also my surgeon is to be present for the surgery also, in case this is not the endo/adhesions, so he can check for and repair a hernia if this is the case. I know it is not. I know it is the endo/adhesions again. My husband doesn't understand...says if they open me up again, will only cause more adhesions. Yes, this is true from what I've been reading...so what to do? I know I want the lap and possible oopherectomy because that left ovary is nothing but trouble. The hysto, I am leary about. Anyone else have a hysto with relieved pain? Ultimitely this is my decision and my husband will stick by me, but he is very worried...I have bounced back and forth from doctors for over a year and now the only way to find out what is wrong is to open me up again...I am concerned too. But no diagnostic test can detect this as of yet, so we are forced into the risks of surgery and anesthesia. This is so unsettling for me. Sorry to ramble, please share any story, advice, etc. Feel free to e-mail me personally. Thanks for listening, Karen
