Endo. Treatment MythsFrom: westisi2 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Feb 3 11:12:27 2001
I have had Endo. and Ovarian Cysts for 10+ years... I have been pregnant (+delivered) twice -Myth #1 pregnancy stops Endo. I have had Laproscopy twice-Myth #2 "cleaning" your system out helps. I have been on Depo Provera-Myth #3 Depo Provera helps Endo. (This did help however with Cystic pain) I have been on Depo Lupron-Myth #4 BIGGEST MYTH OF ALL-Lupron helps stop or slow down Endo. Look, from my experience, drastic measures to end this curse ends up adding to it... I am currently taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen, mainly to help fix my acne problem that Lupron caused, but also in hopes that at least if ovulation is stopped, the adhesions will as well. I am in this boat with all of you out there, and realize it is miserable. My prayer is that one day they find something that DOES work for us women that don't want to give up our childbearing years early! I have been told that hysterectomy is the "cure all" for GYN problems... with Endo, I have heard this is not true since the uterine tissue is already displaced in other parts of the body and still react to hormones, hence irritation and internal bleeding still occurs..? Anyone with experience with that? Thanks:-)
