post c-section endometriomaFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jan 25 12:55:42 2001
Approximately 5 years ago I had a ceasaren section due to cephalo pelvic distortion (CPD). While suturing my abdomen the surgeons left a small piece of placental tissue in the subcutaneous layer between the adipose and muscle layers. Almost one year ago my menstrual cycles changed, my adrenals and thyroid became dysfunctional and I experienced two PSVT episodes with my heart that landed me in the emergency room, and ultimately was thrown into panic disorder syndrome. Additionally, I complained to my OBGYN of continued milk production or gallactorrhea and strange cyclical sensations of swelling over my c-section scar which included severe internal "burning" that radiated up and down my abdominal wall. I was excused as an early parimenopausal patient and told that my "scar" was normal. I recently had this nodule of tissue removed and biopsied as an endometrioma. Since then my symptoms have all but abated and I am seeking help in how to rebalance my hormones. I am not the typical internal type of endometrioma patient and would like assistance in finding out if there are other patients like me. Also, I want to know what the pathology of an iatrogenically placed endometrioma is. I know they have a blood supply but do they secrete hormones? Have hormone receptors? Could the endometrioma be the primary cause of all the strange symptoms I have been having?
