Adenomyosis. Live with the pain or have Hysterectomy? From: cristen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jan 20 12:14:38 2001
Hello I am new to this forum and would appreciate any information that is given. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis in september and have been struggling with the notion of a hysterectomy. I am only 32, but I have had this pain for over 15 years. I have been on birth control to help with the irregularity of my periods and the bleeding. But it is the cramping and the painful intercourse that are the worst. I also have severe cramping after orgasm and read here on the forum that it could be related to adhesions, which I have also been diagnosed with. We have two boys, one 10 and the other 2. We also had a miscarriage between them at 21 weeks (5months)a daughter that I was later told could be related to my condition. We (mostly my husband) feel we would regret not being able to have another child if I were to have a hysterectomy. However, the pain has gotten a lot worse in the last four years and I am blouting and cramping even when I am not due for or on my period. My doctor has said that the only way to completely get rid of the pain is to have a hysterectomy. I suppose what I am asking for is some support from others who have gone through or are going through the same situation. If anyone can give some help I thank you.
