You don't mention what type of pain medication you are taking, but what you are experiencing is very common with anti-inflammatories such as Motrin, Anaprox, etc. This is due to the fact that these medications inhibit prostaglandin production and actually slow the flow down. When this effect occurs, it can be used to benefit some women who suffer with bleeding problems. My flow is much reduced with the use of anti-inflammatories. This effect does not occur for every woman or for every menstrual cycle, but it is well documented.
