3 years of endoFrom: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jan 3 12:26:15 2001
Hi, my name is Linda. I'm 25 and have been dealing with endo for about 3 years now. I've had 2 laporoscopy's to day and am contemplating a hystorectomy. The first scopy was done 3 years ago where 1 tiny spot of endo was found. Afterwards, I went on with life as usual thinking that everything was better because I wasn't given any type of medication for treatment after the procedure. After about 6 to 8 months I started to feel the pain and swelling that I associated with the disease the first time and went to the doctor again. Well, I had another scopy and it was determined that it was stage III endo. There were muliple areas with a lot of scarring and organs adheared to other organs. Needless to say, I felt a lot better after the surgery and was then put on the pill to keep my hormones in check. Well, now it's been about a year and a half later and I have been suffering the same symptoms for about 6 months. I have decided to switch to another OBGYN since the one that I had gone to previously for the disease stated that the endo had not come back because he did such a good job with the last one, but yet, he couldn't figure out how to make me feel better. I have been on numerous medications, including the birth control pill, depo-Lupron, depo-Prevera, Danazol, ect and now the doctor that I am seeing now is sugesting that the problem I am having could be both endo and IBS (Irrital Bowel Sydrom) I have gotten a second opinion on the IBS and am going in to see a specialist GI doctor to rule out that possibility and then will have to deal with different alternatives to help with the disease. I have already had 2 scopes, and both my husband and I have determined that we are happy without having any children so a hysterctomy is a serious thought in our minds. The only problem that I am having is that many people feel that I am too young for the procedure so now I don't know what to do. I would really appreciate any input from anyone regarding this situation. i am just tired of hurting and wish to get on with my life. Thank you for your time.
