I hope all of you enjoyed your holidays so far and that the New Year brings us all bright days and progress in our endeavors.

There have been several nasty little email viruses and worms going 'round lately and for those of you who are subscribed to receive the forum messages via email the following information will hopefully answer some questions and put your minds at ease.

There are some ISPs around that have excellent virus detection properties and will actually intercept an email that is suspected of being a carrier and notify the sender. The messages from the Mail Border Guard that you see from time to time is exactly that. There is at least one person on the forum who is in need of updating their anti-virus software (or obtaining some) and cleaning their computer. I have no way of isolating exactly who it is but I advise each of you to take a few moments today and get your computers up to date.

In the meantime - be cautious of emails with attachments - when in doubt, contact the sender (if you know them) and ask them if they indeed did send that email to you. Most of the worms will send the emails without the person ever knowing it happened.

Visit the Symantec website http://www.symantec.com and read the information there about the newest worms and viruses and follow instructions for updating your Norton Antivirus software. If you have McAfee go to http://www.mcafee.com

If you do not have antivirus software - get some and keep it updated. Most companies will give you a 30-60 day free period to try it out before you purchase - go ahead and take advantage of these offers. It makes good sense to find one you like and is easy to use for you before you buy.
