WhooHoo Beth!! Couldn't have said it any better....Dee you can find sites about the harmonic scalpel on the net and if you have trouble let me know and I'll send you one or more. Yes, it can be life-saving, but you should know that the scalpel is not used everywhere...One lady here is waiting to find somewhere she can go to have it done as they don't use it locally. I love the thing!! Have had laser, basic scalpel and lysing and also harmonic scalpel and it literally saved me as it removed the disease from areas the laser could not such as ligaments, arteries, veins and nerves..etc. Beth hit the nail on the head; we are all here to support and inform. BTW- Any doctor who says "hysterectomy" right up front when discussing endo may not know enough about the disease....It was thought that endo could be cured by pregnancy or hysterectomy....truth is, there is NO cure. A pregnancy has helped many as have hysterectomies. Each case is different and should be viewed differently. However, if your doc jumps the gun before loading you might want to think twice about what he/she seemingly knows. A lap is the only way to diagnose endo. Get yourself educated about this disease, etc. before you see another doc and then interview him/her as to his/her knowledge base. Okay Beth, I know I said I couldn't say it better; guess I just feel chatty and needed to put my own 3 cents in (two is too little LMAO) Welcome Dee, sit down and make yourself at home..you are in for a wonderful ride with some fantabulous women!! Hugs, Sally
>----- Original Message ----- Hi Dee My name is Beth.No need to apologize my spelling is horrible at the best of times and yes thank god for the spell check.haha.Your symptems sound alot like mine.I gather from your post you have not been diagnosed with endo yet and did not go through with the hyst.? Good luck in your seach for a doc.I am from northern canada so i cant help you there. There is a group of wonderful ladies here that will def. point you in the right direction.I am sorry that the last doc treated you in that fashion. We all here have one story or another about being treated pretty bad by the med comunity so you are not alone.A lap is the proceedure where they go in and have a look and then laser will be performed on the endo that is present. when i would have the laps done the endo was always on my bowels and there was a chance of the laser putting holes in this organ.I joined this group 3 and a half months ago and learned that there is a thing called harmonic scapel. This can saftly clean the endo off the organs with out causing damage.I recomend you shop for a doc like we shop for a car,A lemon car can be sent to the junk yard but emotional and physical damage from a doc is hard to get rid of.Well i hope i made sense here! i realy over did my self today and had to take the heavy artilery pain meds. But welcome Dee.Sending you (HUGS) and if ever you want to talk off the list feel free to email me. bethtony@pris.bc.ca ps. My name is Beth and my hubby is Tony hence bethtony.
