Re: Vanessa et alFrom: nsmitch (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Dec 28 17:10:57 2000
Vanessa et al, Blood in stool is not normal as has been said to you. I wanted to add that a GI doc should be the one to check you out for things if at all possible...your primary will probably refer you if you have anything other than a fissure (caused by tearing which would result in red blood) or hemorrhoids which can be both internal and/or external. Dark blood is a more serious problem yet all of the aforementioned can be extremely painful and seeing any unexpected blood can be very scary, I know. Also FYI - if anyone has hemorrhoids or thrombosis hemorrhoids that need removal, the cool part is that another one cannot grow back in the place where the original one(s) was removed (Sorry, loopy here so not sure I made any sense with that statement at all :) Also, FYI to everyone : a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy supposedly cannot show obstructions caused by adhesions, or so I was told yesterday by my new GI doc. He said the only way to know is by barium enema (BE) or surgery. I know I have not updated everyone about what's going on with me and I apologize - been really sick, in loads of pain with no relief from either and yesterday's appt. did not help much ...am in waiting mode again for approval of tests, etc. I did get some possible help for some things but the chest pain/nutcracker esophagus stuff is "untreatable" for me as there are no new drugs on the market for it. (same meds used for my Raynaud's so out of luck there as well) He said that in 16 years of practice I am only the 3rd confirmed clearly diagnosed "nutcracker esophagus" person he's seen - Whoohoo for me, not!! He also is recommending they send me to an ENT again and back to a rheumie so that's something I guess...As for the GI stuff/protrusion and pain and nausea et al, it's wait and wait and wait with nothing to help while I wait. So pls understand if you don't see me around much. Also, my emails have NOT arrived for three days so am writing this through the forum notice. If you need to reach me while I am working out the bugs, pls try nsmitch@bigvalley.net . Thank you and love, peace, painlessness and blessings to all. You are all in my daily thoughts and prayers. And Jackie, am glad to hear you made it through your lap okay and as for what was and wasn't found, I think the other ladies have answered that well. Please know I have held you and everyone else in my thoughts and prayers...Sally P.S. Emily please let me know what's happening with the results of the findings from your lap. I know you are worried and I have continued to hold you as I said I would...
>----- Original Message ----- Vanessa, Blood in the stool is not normal. Please contact your doc ASAP. Could be something very serious, so it is best to check with your doc. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Kelly K.
