Hi Patty:

Happy to hear the good news about the ct scan.

For me having an abdominal surgery was something I didn't want to repeat after my partial hysterectomy. But when my pain returned and the depo provera was no longer effective for me I had both my ovaries removed. When the Doc did the surgery both my ovaries were so encased in adhesions and were adhering to my abdominal wall, he had no choice but to remove both of them. And this is something he really did not want to do as I am 39.

I understand how you must be feeling with having to decide if he should take both or not, it is such a hard choice, because there are no right or wrong decisions.

What stage is your endo at? When he goes in if the left ovary looks healthy and not encased in adhesions or endo, it may not have to come out and having one ovary will provide you with the hormones required so you won't have to be on HRT. Being placed into surgical menopause can increase your chances of heart disease, osteoporosis to name a few.

The other side to consider is, with each surgery you have, it can mean the formation of more adhesions (not sure if you are prone to these or not) as well as having to face another abdominal surgery.

If you are wondering if you would "feel" any differently with having your ovaries removed, less of a woman, with me...I don't feel any different or less of a woman.

Before you make your decision, would recommend that you research the effects of a surgical menopause. And do what you think is best for "You", keeping in mind the pain you experience, what it is like to recover from abdominal surgery, what it will mean to have to take HRT for the remainder of your life.

If you want to email me privately and ask any questions, please do *smiles*.

You are in my thoughts.

Warm hugsss Marlene
