Tampons

Hi All,

I have an undiagnosed (as of yet) case of chronic pelvic pain and all the other classic symptoms of endometriosis. This is a recent development and I'm trying to find out as much as I can about it so I can beat this thing. This forum has been such a help to me -- thanks everyone. I was wondering about Tampons (as I had bad experiences with them recently), and I noted there are many concerns in the archives about a possible relationship between tampon use and endo. Even if there is no proof (yet) of endo as caused by "dioxin" or bleaching agents, or rayon etc., I still think there could very well be a causal relationship between using tampons and the body's reasorption of blood with endo. One cause of endo is retrograde flow; isn't this also achieved by using tampons? I don't think it is a good thing to keep inside the body what the body naturally wishes to expell. Like plugging the dam so to speak. What does the body do when confronted with materials it was trying to get rid of, perhaps it reabsorbs them? Tampons can aid reabsorption by keeping the material inside the body for stretches of time. I also wonder when endometriosis was indentified? Can we trace it back as one of the "female complaints" of earlier days, or is endometriosis a more recent development? I don't want to idict tampons, for I am a 17 year veteran of tampon use, but I just wonder about them, as women haven't been using commercial tampons for very long and endometriosis seems to be a more recent phenomenon. I wrote to Tampax about this, I'll let you know if they respond. Thanks.
