Re: Any suggestions...From: Juanita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Sep 23 17:35:23 2000
Megan, Are you seeing a military doctor? My father was in the military so of course my first ob/gyn was a military doctor. I have found that one they either do not know, or choose not to recognize the symptoms or diagnose endometriosis. The really bad part, I was seeing "The Best" ob/gyn doctor on base because my father was also a doctor. I was told the same as you -- it is just PMS. It was not until I got a job with my own insurance, several years later, that I was diagnosed. My suggestion is to either keep pushing the issue. You know what is wrong, what you are feeling, etc. Make them listen. Or you need to see a doctor off base. You have a right to know the truth and someone needs to give you a definite answer as well as be knowledgeable to answer all of your questions. Hope things work out. Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 01:07:50 -0500 I had an ob/gyn several years ago that because nothing had shown up on ultrasound, she basically told me that the pain must be in my head (along with the 10 day periods which would be dark brown both at beginning and end, and be extremely heavy, etc) We told her that we'd like a 2nd opinion and after several other approaches (bc pills, flex sig, etc) the new ob/gyn decided to do an exploratory laparascopy. He said he found severe adhesions which had connected my ovaries and bowels. I'm still in pain after 2 years and after looking at a site online about clear endometriosis, it appears that there was some on the photos he gave me after the surgery (looks kind of like a few drops of water), which he didn't remove or even mention. I recently had really severe sharp pains around my right ovary which have just suddenly stopped after having an even heavier than normal period. I asked my primary care P.A. if he thought the picture looked like endometriosis to him and he refused to say, only told me that I'd need to discuss it with the ob/gyn, who has since retired. I don't have the money to go offbase for another opinion on this and was hoping someone here might have other suggestions to help me...I appreciate any advice at all...thanks in advance!
