Debbie, I too was having problems with my husband and family members from January til this month when I was diagnosed with endo. In January the pain got unbearable, I had NO energy felt bad all the way around. I am one of those (I guess lucky or shall I say unlucky) people who have a very high tolerance for pain. This causes problems because by the time something bothers me it's usually so bad that it take twice the effort to overcome it. Nonetheless, my husband thought I was being lazy the last 9 months, the house was a mess, dinner consisted of frozen pizzas, soup - just easy quick things to make. he also didn't understand my depression and mood swings - I think he too thought it was all in my head. Once I was diagnosed, I printed everything that explained how debilitating this disease really is. When he didn't want to sit and read it, I just said "listen to this one" and would read him a letter from a woman with endo. Soon enough, he was reading through it all on his own. I can't tell you how wonderful he has been since then. He helps with dinner, cleaning and laundry - something he hasn't done in the twelve years we've been married. My mother unfortunately is in Arizona, so I emailed her links and she graciously read story after story and now has a better understanding. It's funny though...You all (& the internet) have been educating me, I am trying to educate my husband, kids and mother and ironically I caught my husband on the phone with an ex coworker who's wife was having a lot of the same symptoms. She had a diagnostic lap this week and low and behold - she has it too!!! So Debbie if you have to read your family stories or email them to them - do it! I think the clincher was the poem that Belle posted a couple of days ago. That poem says it all, if you do nothing else - make them read that. Best of luck and my heart goes out to you.
