Jennifer you are more than welcome. I can truly relate to a doc who doesn't
listen. I once had one who told me I was a waist of his time and he had
other ill patients whose time I was eating up with him. I have a great
gastro but he has awful bedside manner. I have decided that I'd rather have
a very informative doc than not. (I have other gastro problems than
IBS....My pulmonary problems are due to an esophagus condition). I have
literally yelled at him as he's walked out of the room to stop and explain
what he'd just said to me (i.e . don't pat me on the head and send me on my
way) Please keep me posted about things and feel free to email m personally
if you'd like. It is NEVER wrong to be an informed patient!! My best to you,
Sally

well, i checked your message at the right time- i just got back from a
gastro doctor appt- due to the antibiotics they gave be for bowel
problems and my lap in august i have developed anti biotic associated
colitis- chlostri difficil bacteria causes it- i have under gone one
round of treatment and this was my check up- now he tells me that i
could have another flare up with it and may have to go on vancomycin
again- which upset me visibly in the office because of the possibility
of pregnancy this month- i don't want to be on that with that at the
same time- i asked him if i could do the poop test today to test for it
and he said lets wait a week- which is what he did the first time i saw
him and is the reason i was having 15 bowel movements a day- so i must
of turned 4 shades of purple- i think my husband was scared- and said
that i want the lab slip to do the test when i want this week and i
really do not want a sigmo-test which is what is next- tears came to my
eyes because this guy is non responsive from the start and i knew today
would be a problem- when i was leaving he said that i should give him a
chance to treat it etc- give him a chance - i have been pooping
constantly off and on with bouts of constipation for 2 months now-
anyway- i am the self educating type and i am thankful for my obgyn- who
will listen to me- i will do this test and then change doctors i think-
and you are right- the doctors must confer- the one my ob wants me to go
to is in the same doctors office as this one- so i don't know if there
is a conflict of interest that could arise- i want no more pills and no
more procedures and it is looking like i won't get it- after the
antibiotic bug is gone- i might begin my search for a repro-
endocrinologist- probally hard to find here in new orleans
anyway- i wanted to thank you for your message- it reassures me that i
am not some overreactive emotional woman who "knows to much" about
stuff- i research everything- and i think this doctor didn't appreciate
my questions- anyway- thanks again- hope to hear from you again-
