Re: (Tammy) I,M CONFUSED!!!!!From: Lila (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Sep 18 16:03:35 2000
Tammy, Unfortunately I don't have any information about lupus or the effect of endo treatments of it, but I do know that like you I never had heavy periods or lots of cramps. I did have irregular periods, including going three months (usually june, july, august) without one for a number of years. It was in august 2 years ago when I started getting pelvic pain, etc., which eventually lead to a laparoscopy and diagnonsis. I hope you find some information that will help you make your decision on which treatment is best for you. Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2000 23:06:42 -0500 I'm 34 and have 3 children, I'm not planning on having any more. I have had LUPUS for 14 yrs and have just been diagnosed with Endo, 3 weeks ago after having a lap done. For yrs I have been complaining of pelvic, abdominal and lower back pain, bloating, pain during and after intercourse, constapation and diarrhea, sensitivity in my ovary area, irritability and my docs just told me it was all due to my lupus. My periods were irregular, NEVER really heavy and NOT alot of cramping. Sometimes I would get them twice in a month and then maybe skip a month, then back to getting them twice in one month again. Then they began to slow down to getting them once every other month for only 3 days and this was just a spotting. Now I dont get them at all, Haven't had one scince May 2000. And I do not believe this is normal either. They checked my hormone levels and they came out fine, did an ultrsound, found cyst on my ovaries and fibroids. When they did the Lap, there were no cyst and endo was found. When I asked about the fibroids, they told me they were still there but the endo was covering them. She showed my pics she took while doing the lap, but they do not really match any I found on the net. I know all cases are different but I thought I should of found something close. She wants to put me on Lupron or some other kind of hormones but with my Lupus I can not take these, for flare of my lupus. With all the side effects there is to taking lupron I really do not feel that it should even be considered, but my gyne is insisting to try it. I am on other meds such as, prednisone, plaquniel, tenormin, ativan, and ultram for pain. They ruled out the fact that the meds had anything to do with my irregular periods. I'm confused about the fact that I thought endo caused heavy bleeding and severe menstral cramping, which I had neither. And now I am not bleeding at all, what's this all about? And is it possible I don't have endo and it could be something else. My only solution to my problem is taking a hormone or a hysterectomy, and as I said before hormones are out due to my lupus and I really don't want to have a hyster if it's not needed. I've explained to my gyne that I did not want to flare my lupus by taking these drugs, but she is still insisting. I'm scared and don't know what to do. Could someone please help me with this? I'm so confused and the more I read the more confused I get. I need to make up my mind by Oct 9th what treatment I want to choose. Thanks for any help you can send my way, gussygrl@hotmail.com Tammy
