Hi Marlene!
The doctors will actually be doing "conscious pain mapping" on me. That is,
I will be put under until they get the laparoscope into my belly button,
they will then wake me and poke around my abdominal area to see where the
pain is. As the doc pokes around I have to rate the pain from 1 to 10.
They will cut the sacral nerve plexus in the hope that pain will be reduced.
When my doctor (a reproductive endocrinologist) examined me he could tell
that perhaps some other nerve in my abdominal area may be entrapped (I think
my obturator nerve) - so he will dissect it to see if he can set it free.
Of course they (I will have my ob doc as well as this repro endocrinologist
operate on me) will also look around for endo and scar tissue and get rid of
it. I really, really, really hope this 5th operation will work! The pain
is out of this world and all the narcotics in this world are not helping. I
have been on oxycontin for a while and the side effect of constipation is
getting on my nerves. Does anyone have any advice on laxatives for this
type of constipation??? Well, thanks for thinking of me - Wishing everyone
at least a few minutes of pain free endo life! Love ya, Ale
