Re: Side Effects of LupronFor more information on symptoms and treatment of endometriosis visit www.EndometriosisZONE.org. From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Sep 6 16:47:54 2000
Just to add my 2 cents about Lupron. I took it for 3 months -- just finished in fact. I didn't have any hot flashes. My worst side effect was the emotional issues -- just about anything would make me cry -- any change of emotion, and the tears started flowing. I also experienced some vaginal dryness, but no decrease in sex drive (in fact, I think it increased). The Lupron helped the pain for a while, but then it wasn't helping much anymore. Between the fact that it only helped a bit & the fact that I was crying 2 -3 times a day, I decided to quit. The other things I noticed is that there was some hair loss (not enough to tell by looking, but I can feel the difference). I also bruised really easily. I would get nasty bruises for no reason & they would last forever. That is my experience with Lupron. All I can say is, poor you! anyway, I hope that you will not have to resort to hysterectomy. I am happy to tell you about my experience with Lupron it has been kind of weird but I hope it will add to your arsenal of information. I think I have had worse side effects with Lupron than most people. For most people, the worst thing are the hot flashes. Almost everyone gets those and they REALLY suck. I also get nausea when I get hot flashes but again, I seem to be the only person I know who has that. For me, though, I am really struggling with having constant dizziness, and really bad dizzy spells. I seem to be in this monthly cycle where, about a week after my shot, I start feeling really dizzy all the time and continue to feel that way for about two weeks. Then it clears up and I am fine for the next two weeks. During that time I will have a constant level of dizziness and then spells of severe dizziness. I am taking drugs that help but still end up missing a few days of work every month. Apart from that, I feel more tired than normal and my weight has been fluctuating. Most people gain weight but I lost it initially. Strange. On the positive side I have to say that Lupron has eased my pain considerably, and it seems to get better the longer I am on it. We will see what happens when I go off........ Hope this helps!
