advice neededFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Sep 4 13:04:35 2000
Hi All: I'm new to this forum. Went to gynecologist last week and told I have a large pelvic mass on the right side, possibly a dislodged fibroid, possibly a cyst, possibly an endometrioma. The docs want to do more tests (too much pain to stand the first one) and probably do a laparotomy (my doc thinks it's too large for a laparoscopy). The pain has gotten pretty bad. I used to run 20-30 miles a week; now I feel lucky if I can walk a few blocks without pain, and sometimes it just hurts for no reason. Does anyone have advice? How do the docs reach a definite diagnosis? Are there ways to treat with meds vs. surgery? If I have to have a laparotomy, what should I expect in terms of the surgery itself and the recovery time? Thanks to all! -- Amy
