I have to say it is wonderful to read a post from a truly concerned husband. Your wife needs you, and you are coming through for her - hooray for you!

No, there is no definite genetic link for endo...many of us do have genetic links, but many do not. It is an enigmatic disease.

Yes, the only positive way to diagnose endo is with a laparoscopy. It is an outpatient procedure, but as with any surgery, there are risks. The important thing from my view is to have a very skilled, experienced surgeon who knows what to look for.
