New to forum...my story...(warning, may be long! lol)From: Melanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jul 31 05:17:26 2000
Hi all! I have been reading through the posts and thought I would write. I am 24, married, no kids. Every month for over a year now I get really bad abdominal pain with the start of my period, usually starts at night and lasts through the next day. All I can do is curl into a ball and suffer through it since Tylenol and such does nothing to help.I often end up taking a sleeping pill so I can at least half sleep through the worst of it. My stomach bloats up and then the pain starts along with extreme shooting pain with having a bowel movement or sitting down too hard. Also occasionally pain with intercourse during other times of the month which gets worse as my period approaches. I went to doctor after doctor who all kept patting me on the head and telling me it was just "middlesmertz" and to go take some Motrin...I also tried to get pregnant for over a year with no luck and was told to just "keep at it"even after I told the doc about my pain. My husband and I began to get quite worried since my symptoms seemed to match endo and since we had been unable to conceive....I had to go on Accutane for my acne about six months ago so we had to stop "trying" and I had to go on b.c. pills since Accutane causes really bad birth defects. Pain has gotten no better since starting the b.c. pills and now seems to be lasting longer sometimes two or three days, I am lucky that I am a housewife and do not have to work...Anyway I decided to try one more time to get a doctor to help me and finally found a nice doctor that immediately ordered an ultrasound.Good thing since I had already decided that this time I was not leaving that hospital until someone did SOMETHING!lol The ultrasound came back last week and it found a large complex cyst on my right ovary and a lot of debris around the ovary and some fluid in the back of my pelvis. He is a general practice doctor so he is refferring me to the ob/gyn department so they can decide whether to take out the cyst and maybe the ovary or to just watch it for a few months and see what happens...Since complex cysts are also associated with endo and I seem to have lots of the symptoms I am very worried that I will never be able to have a baby and that this pain will never go away!I guess I'm just looking for some support and advise from others who have been through this...I'm sorry this is so long... thanks for your time...
-- Brightest Blessings, Melanie
